LMRA highlights Bahrain’s efforts in combating trafficking in persons


Washington, Dec. 7 (BNA): The CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, Nouf Abdul Rahman Jamsheer, met with officials and representatives from the Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit at the US Department of Justice and the Wages and Hours Division at the US State Department. Labor and the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Jamsheer stressed Bahrain’s commitment to protecting workers’ rights and promoting a safe and fair work environment.

She affirmed the Kingdom’s keenness to strengthen strategic partnerships with the international community to combat human trafficking, including forced labor and labor exploitation, and welcomed the Bahraini-American cooperation in this regard.

The CEO highlighted a set of programs and initiatives launched by the Kingdom to protect workers’ rights.

These include legislative instruments that have seen the implementation of the Wage Protection System and the establishment of the Expatriate Protection Centre.

Jamsheer indicated that the Kingdom has also intensified efforts to develop community awareness of rights and duties through the Regional Center for Excellence and Capacity Building to Combat Human Trafficking of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority in partnership with international organizations.
