Liverpool wins 2-0 at Brighton as it chases down Man City

London, March 12 / BNA / Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah led Liverpool to a 2-0 victory over Brighton on Saturday, in an attempt to chase Manchester City, the leaders of the English Premier League.

Liverpool are three points behind City as the defending champions play at Crystal Palace on Monday, according to the Associated Press.

Diaz headed the ball into the net in the 19th minute before it was hit by goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, who rushed to the edge of the penalty area.

Paramedics were immediately waved off by referee Mike Dean, but a subsequent VAR review allowed the goalkeeper to remain on the field with impunity.

Liverpool’s second goal came with a penalty kick that Salah converted in the 61st minute after Naby Keita scored a massive goal at the hands of Brighton midfielder Yves Bisoma.

Liverpool have now scored 21 goals and conceded only twice while winning eight league games in a row. Brighton are 13th in the 20-team standings after their fifth consecutive loss.
