Leverkusen fight back for point at Betis

Berlin, October 22 (BNA): Robert Andreich’s late equalizer secured Bayer Leverkusen a 1-1 draw with Real Betis and kept top of Group G of the European League in the middle of the road.

Both teams won their first two matches, and after both missed chances in the first half, Borja Iglesias opened the scoring with a penalty after Jeremy Frimpong’s handball in the 75th minute.

But Leverkusen hit back after just seven minutes in fortunate circumstances when Andric fired a long distance into the net with a wide deviation from William Carvalho.

Leverkusen are top on goal difference and will be happy to bounce back after a domestic defeat at the weekend against Bayern Munich ahead of the Rhein-Bundesliga derby with Cologne on Sunday.

And in the other Group G match that was held on Tuesday, Celtic took their first points with a 2-0 victory over Ferencvaros, who are in last place and not far off the mark.
