Leicester striker Vardy out several weeks with knee injury

London, March 9 (BNA) Leicester coach Brendan Rodgers said that Leicester striker Jamie Vardy will be out for several weeks due to a knee injury.

Vardy, 35, recently returned from a hamstring injury when he struggled with a knee problem in Leicester’s 1-0 win over Leeds in the Premier League on Saturday, according to the Associated Press.

Vardy is Leicester’s top scorer with 10 goals in the league despite a lengthy absence due to a hamstring problem. He started his first game of 2022 on Saturday.

Leicester host French club Rennes on Thursday in the first leg of the round of 16 in the European League.

Wesley Fofana will miss the Rennes match after testing positive for COVID-19. The defender broke his leg in pre-season and was on the verge of making his debut of the season.

The 21-year-old Frenchman signed a contract extension this week to keep him at Leicester until 2027.
