Leclerc seals pole position for French Grand Prix

Le Castellet, July 24 (BUS): Charles Leclerc continued Ferrari’s recent strong performance by clinching pole position at the French Formula 1 Grand Prix, defeating championship leader Max Verstappen.

Monaco’s Leclerc, who won the last time in Austria, scored a best lap of 1 minute 30.872 seconds on Paul Ricard’s 5.842 kilometer circuit in Le Castelli, according to the German news agency (dpa).

Red Bull champion Verstappen, who showed impressive racing speed in the practice sessions, slipped by 0.304sec to finish second on the grid, while teammate Sergio Perez was third fastest.

Ferrari’s Spanish driver Carlos Sainz will start the race from behind on the grid after exceeding the number of permitted power unit changes.
