Lebanon’s banks to reopen on Monday

Beirut, September 25 (BNA) The Lebanese Banks Syndicate said that Lebanese banks will open their doors on Monday after five days of closure following a wave of defaults in the country by depositors seeking to access their frozen savings.

The association said in a statement, Sunday, that the decision to reopen “was taken after taking into account the current difficult security conditions and the need to preserve the safety of customers and employees alike, in light of the lack of adequate protection by the state.”

It added that each bank will define its own channels for banking operations with commercial and educational institutions, and the healthcare sector among others, according to Reuters.
