Italian opera masterpieces at Shaikh Ibrahim center on Monday

Manama, December 12 (BNA) Italian soprano Laura Baldassari and pianist Sabrina Afantario will fascinate tomorrow, Monday, with melodies and songs from the Italian opera.

During the concert at the Sheikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research in Muharraq, historical masterpieces from the Italian opera will be presented.

The party, which will be held under strict hygiene precautions, including seating capacity at only 50%, will begin at 8 p.m. It will be broadcast live on the Center’s YouTube channel.

Laura Baldassari was born in Ravenna in 1985. At the age of 18 she began studying opera with Professor Patricia Brown.

She perfected her art with maestro William Matuzzi and followed the lessons of soprano Edda Moser at the Mozartium in Salzburg where she sang as the best young man in her class at Wiener Saal and at Schloss Hoech.

In 2008 she won first prize in the “Dino Caravita” competition and was awarded a two-year scholarship from Lions Club Dante Alighieri in Ravenna.

She has appeared in many concerts as a soloist performing an opera ensemble that includes chamber music and contemporary compositions.

In 2009, she was selected to play the role of Cunegonda in the opera Candide by L. Bernstein at the LTL opera studio backed by the theaters of Pisa, Luca, and Livorno.

Subsequently, she was selected for the opera Die Groschenoper by Kurt Weill, where she played the roles of both Polly and Jenny.

She attended the Scuola dell’Opera del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, and made her debut there as the main character in “Le bel indifferent” by Marco Tutino.

According to Artemusicale, she also played “Catherine” in J. Offenbach’s operetta “Pomme d’Api” in Teatro Comunale di Bologna.

She participated in a mobile show in Italy and at the Royal Opera House in Muscat entitled “Il Trovatore” (Production of the Ravenna Festival) as Ines, directed by Maestro Paskowsky.
