Leadership’s support for enhancing intra-Asian relations praised by APA economic standing committee

Manama, May 17 (BNA): The meetings of the Standing Committee for Economics and Sustainable Development at the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), hosted by Bahrain, are chaired by Member of Parliament and Deputy Speaker of APA MP Ahmed. Sabah Al-Salloum concluded his work today.


The committee expressed its thanks and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the warm reception and hospitality accorded to the participants, which reflects the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Leadership to enhance intra-Asian relations and strengthen cooperation among APA member states.


The committee has decided to submit its reports on several draft resolutions to the Executive Council and the APA General Assembly scheduled for later this year.


The reports relate to decisions on the establishment of an Asian energy market, environmental issues, ensuring efforts for Asian economic growth, poverty eradication, the role of APA parliaments in supporting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, water and sanitation in Asia for all, and the adoption of a roadmap stipulating measures to stimulate financing Green and the Asian Climate Finance Initiative.
