Labour Minister visits Lulu Group Bahrain

Manama, Dec. 24 (BNA): Labor Minister Jamil bin Muhammad Ali Humaidan visited Lulu Bahrain Group, one of the contributors to the success of the employment initiative.


The employment initiative comes within the National Labor Market Plan 2021-2023, which is included in the priority of creating promising job opportunities for citizens and making them the first choice in the labor market.


The plan aims to employ 20,000 Bahrainis and train 10,000 annually until 2024 as part of the economic recovery plan.


During the visit, the minister met with the regional director of Lulu Group, Joser Rupawala, and was briefed on the company’s efforts and strategy to attract Bahraini talent.


The company currently employs 1,000 Bahrainis, or 30% of its staff. It also employed 750 Bahrainis in 2021 and 2022, and employed 15 Bahrainis with special needs on a part-time basis.


The minister expressed his thanks to the Lulu Group for its efforts in increasing Bahrainization rates, praising the Bahrainis who joined the private sector in order to contribute to the comprehensive development process in the Kingdom.


He stressed the importance of highlighting the success stories of Bahraini business owners and youth, praising the role played by the private sector in supporting employment programs at the Ministry of Labor.


He stressed the importance of continuing to launch initiatives aimed at employing Bahrainis and granting concessions to private establishments that voluntarily employ Bahraini workers.


Joser Rupawala stressed that the government’s support for the private sector and its institutions contributes to its growth and stimulates it to attract more national cadres.

He added that the company is keen to give priority to local workers because of their success and professionalism, and unveiled plans to employ more Bahrainis in administrative positions in the company.
