Labour Minister meets with IOM Regional Director for Middle East and North Africa

Manama, June 18 (BNA) Labor Minister Jamil bin Muhammad Ali Humaidan met with the Regional Director of the International Organization for Migration for the Middle East and North Africa, Carmela Godot, on the occasion of her visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He reviewed Bahrain’s efforts to maintain labor market stability in light of the coronavirus pandemic and the initiatives implemented within the economic recovery plan. He affirmed the Kingdom’s keenness, under the leadership of His Majesty the King and the directives of His Highness the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister, to protect rights and ensure adherence to international conventions and covenants.

For her part, the Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa at the International Organization for Migration praised the measures taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain during the pandemic to protect the rights of the workforce and combat discrimination. It also praised Bahrain’s success in reaching Tier 1 in the US State Department’s Report on Trafficking in Persons (TiP). She praised the active partnership between the Kingdom and the International Organization for Migration, stressing the organization’s keenness to enhance technical cooperation with Bahrain.
