HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister inaugurates the new offices of Citi Bahrain Global Technology Hub

Manama, Feb. 12 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, inaugurated today the new offices of the Bahrain International Technology Center in Manama.

His Highness stressed the importance of strengthening the role of the private sector as a strategic partner to increase its contribution to the Kingdom’s development goals under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister affirmed that investing in Bahraini citizens and providing promising opportunities is an essential pillar in the continuous comprehensive development in the Kingdom.

His Highness highlighted the role of financial and banking institutions in supporting the economic sector and positioning Bahrain as an attractive commercial and investment destination. In this regard, His Royal Highness explained how the advanced and innovative digital infrastructure in the Kingdom supports financial and banking services technologies regionally and globally.

His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister emphasized the role played by financial and banking institutions in creating job opportunities for Bahrainis and highlighted the capabilities of Bahraini professionals in this sector.

His Highness indicated that the efforts of economic diversification in the Kingdom are continuing to progress by developing various plans and strategies for all sectors, and attracting investments, which contributes to creating new job opportunities for Bahraini citizens in accordance with the objectives of the economic recovery plan. For his part, the CEO of Citi Bahrain, Michel Sawaya, expressed his appreciation to His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for his commitment and support to the banking and financial sector in the Kingdom, which contributed greatly to the development of the sector. He also highlighted how the strategic partnership with the Bahrain Labor Fund (Tamkeen) and the Economic Development Board (EDB) will enhance efforts to make City Bahrain Technology Center the employer of choice that helps build sustainable jobs for Bahraini youth in the field of financial technology.

Citi launched the Global Technology Center in 2021 as part of a strategic partnership with the Bahrain Labor Fund (Tamkeen) and the Economic Development Board (EDB), with the goal of creating 1,000 software jobs over the next ten years. Citi chose the Kingdom of Bahrain because of the business incubator environment in the Kingdom, which supports growth, development and equal opportunities. In addition, it is well-equipped with qualified human resources, as Bahraini talents have outperformed other regions in tests and interviews specialized in the field of programming.

The ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Finance and National Economy, His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, His Excellency Rasheed Mohammed Al Maraj, and a number of senior officials.
