Labor Minister receives IMF delegation

Manama, Feb. 7 (BNA): Minister of Labor and Chairman of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, Jamil bin Muhammad Ali Humaidan, received members of the International Monetary Fund delegation headed by Asmaa Al-Janani.

The minister affirmed the Kingdom’s keenness to enhance the sustainability of the labor market growth and develop policies to increase investment attraction and opportunities.

The meeting aimed to assess experiences and work to enhance them.

The minister reviewed the initiatives of employment and social protection programs, achieving an increase in employment rates and reducing the number of job seekers by the end of 2022, as well as programs to support women and promote the principles of equality in the labor market.

Humaidan briefed the delegation on the procedures for establishing companies in the Kingdom and the legislation related to the protection of expatriate workers in accordance with international labor standards, and its efforts to combat all forms of discrimination and address any practices of human trafficking.

The minister also reviewed the new projects launched to support the business environment and protect wages for expatriate workers, and specialized training packages for university graduates to qualify them for the labor market.

Al-Janani praised the government’s efforts to launch initiatives to maintain the growth of the labor market and provide more quality opportunities in various fields.

She expressed her appreciation to the Ministry and the Labor Market Regulatory Authority for their cooperation with the International Monetary Fund to review the Kingdom’s experience.
