King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence signs agreement with UNITAR

New York, September 28 (BNA): The King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence and the “This is Bahrain” association participated in the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, through a session on the role of education in promoting peaceful coexistence. .

On the sidelines of the session, the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence signed an agreement with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) to enhance cooperation between the two sides in the field of research and training.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence, Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, stressed the pivotal role of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in promoting the values ​​of tolerance and peaceful coexistence. In this regard, he referred to the Bahrain Declaration, which received high international praise. He added that the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence launched several programs and initiatives that embody the vision of His Majesty, in addition to opening channels of cooperation with the most prestigious international universities such as Oxford, Cambridge and Sapienza, in order to prepare a generation of young people who believe in the principle of coexistence, tolerance and acceptance of the other.

For her part, the Vice-President of the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence and President of the “This is Bahrain” Society, Betsy Mattison, praised the cooperation between the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence and UNITRA. She stressed that the signing of the agreement will open wider horizons for training youth. She described the agreement as a new international achievement added to the center’s efforts to enhance the vision of His Majesty the King in spreading the principles of tolerance and peaceful coexistence through the eradication of illiteracy.
