Bologna, September 15 (BNA) The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence, Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, participated in the G20 Interfaith Forum 2021 in Bologna, Italy.
Dr. Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa attended the opening ceremony and public discussion sessions that highlighted the role of religion in mitigating the repercussions of Covid-19, relief aid for victims of epidemics in poor countries, powers, inequality, peacemaking, and other key issues.
He attended the European Union session that focused on the relationship between policy-making and religious values, especially tolerance, stressing the need to include religious practices in building a diverse, open and peaceful society.
He also participated in a religious ceremony held at the “Congregation of the Seven Churches”, the construction of which dates back to the Middle Ages in Bologna. The event included special sessions to review the values and principles of different religions and beliefs, prayers and readings that help encourage dialogue and reach common ground for human understanding.
He also visited the prestigious University of Bologna to discuss areas of cooperation and understanding between the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence, as well as ways to benefit from the initiatives and programs offered by the center in the university’s curricula and academic programs.
