Khalid bin Hamad instructs for organizing 2022 Strength Week

Manama, January 5 (BNA): First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the Public Sports Authority, and Chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. I was directed to organize Power Week 2022 under the slogan #be_a_beast.

The event will witness four competitions, including the second edition of the strongest Gulf man, the fourth edition of the strongest Bahraini, the weightlifting championship, and the physical strength championship, all of which were approved by His Highness.

We have instructed to hold Power Week 2022 which follows the success of the event organized last year. His Highness Sheikh Khalid said that the 2021 edition has achieved great success at the continental and international levels, and reflects Bahrain’s efforts to support sports in light of the vision and instructions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

“This confirms Bahrain’s leading position as an exceptional hub for major events, and it also supports the Kingdom’s endeavors towards the sports industry and supports investments in this key area in line with the Kingdom’s 2030 vision.” We are committed to continuing our support for sports in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, as we believe in the importance of making real contributions to the efforts that advance sports and its subsidiaries at the regional level. This will be achieved by holding the second edition of the strongest man in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) heavyweight championship.

He explained that the first edition of this tournament, which was held in the Power Week 2021, constituted a real opportunity to meet athletes in the Gulf Cooperation Council region who are interested in this type of sport, which helped spread this sport and increase its base in Gulf sports. The community and pushed him to continue supporting this sport by creating the second edition of the tournament. Ultimately, these efforts contribute to raising and developing sporting standards and help form Gulf teams for continental and international participation.

This leads to the discovery of talents and distinctive elements in these sports, through which national teams can be formed to represent Bahrain and raise its flag high in various foreign tournaments.”

He stressed the importance of taking into account the application of all preventive measures according to the signal level followed by the National Medical Task Force to preserve the safety of participants from the risks of infection with the Corona virus or micron variable, and called on all athletes in the Kingdom.
