Dr. Askar expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Majesty the King’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs, His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for his continuous support to the sports sector, indicating that the initiative comes within the visions of His Highness and is part of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports. Askar revealed that the smaller category will participate in the first edition of the Khaled bin Hamad Gold Generation League, which is supervised by the General Sports Authority and organized by the seven sports federations. Sports include football, basketball, handball, volleyball, table tennis, athletics and cycling.
He added that the Khalid bin Hamad League for the Gold Generation will not be held during school hours or exams.
He pointed out that based on the directives of His Highness Sheikh, cash prizes were allocated to the first three places in the league competitions and the first and second places in the cup competition, adding that the best player in each match or competition will be honored.
He revealed that within the framework of the initiative, an all-star match or match will be held with the participation of the best performing players and the best coaches, indicating that the players will be selected by the competent technical committees.
