A junior engineer to manage the installation of a section of the business by gaining more field experience with the expenses gained from technical knowledge, short term planning, foreman management, labor, equipment and materials. Maintain a progressive and positive attitude within site teams and support and maintain high quality and efficient deliverables.
Basic job functions
• Ensure that site teams comply with relevant program, schedules of materials, drawings and general engineering. The current drawing history is applied at all times.
• Maintain current health and safety policy at all times Ensure employees adhere to construction rules and procedures Conduct Toolbox talks and maintain daily and weekly DSTI records.
• To record relevant installation rates and periods and manage related performance requirements of foreman & staff. (Time and movement/cost vs. allowable). Apply a 6-week forward look to total employment requirements and update management.
• To oversee production and monitor progress, highlight any areas of concern and utilize foreman’s progress report to implement weekly progress updates.
• Interpret design drawings to plan and prepare for construction work ensuring access certificates are issued by the main contractor prior to commencement of works.
• Site preparation and installation of relevant civil / fitting / electromechanical systems as per site drawings ensuring works coding as required, duties to cover full aspects and scope requirements and coordination of built information with foreman / administrator- hands. Daily constraint record is compiled and issued to relevant site engineer/construction department
• Ensure that the daily DSTI is issued, understood and signed by the merchants who sit during the session. The DSTI shall include all relevant safety and operational requirements and shall be relevant to the work performed during the day.
• Ensure that site areas are kept clean, and materials are stored and controlled in a safe and efficient manner. Material wastage should be reduced to a minimum and excess material should be returned to warehouses. Material withdrawal requirements must be determined 24 hours before relevant work is carried out on site. These tables should be based on MTOs.
• Completed Applicable Commercial Training/Technical College Diploma.
• Working knowledge of design and visualization programs such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or the like
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
