Jordanian King holds talks with Canada PM

Ottawa, Jan. 28 (BNA): His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau held today, Friday, talks in Ottawa that dealt with bilateral relations and the latest regional and international developments, according to a statement by the Royal Court.

In the bilateral talks, which were followed by expanded talks in the Parliament building, King Abdullah and Prime Minister Trudeau referred to the deep-rooted strategic relations between the two countries and their keenness to develop them in the fields of education, trade, investment and defense cooperation.

At the beginning of the talks, His Majesty expressed his appreciation for the strong friendship between Jordan and Canada, expressing his pride in the level of bilateral relations and political cooperation to face challenges in the region.

His Majesty the King praised Canada’s support for Jordan in facing economic challenges, stressing its important role in enhancing security and stability in the region, Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported.

For his part, Prime Minister Trudeau referred to the fruitful work over the past years to expand relations between the two countries.

As part of His Majesty’s visit, the Jordanian and Canadian governments signed a sovereign loan agreement worth up to 120 million Canadian dollars.
