Industry and Commerce Ministry announces anti-dumping measures to protect national industries

Manama, September 29 (BNA) The Ministry of Industry and Commerce announced that as of Saturday October 1, 2022, imports of motor batteries with a capacity of 32 to 225 amps from Turkey and India will be subject to anti-dumping duties. , except for AGM and EFB battery types.

This announcement comes after the Cabinet approved a decision taken by the GCC Ministerial Committee for Industry, to impose anti-dumping measures to mitigate the harmful effects of international trade on local and Gulf products.

The Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Development, Dr. Khaled Fahd Al-Alawi, explained that the decision came after a complaint submitted by the regional industry to the Office of the Technical Secretariat regarding the effects of dumping the relevant imported products on regional goods.

He stated that the investigation showed an increase in the volume of dumped imports from Turkey and India. He added that the imposed fees will depend on the dumping rate of the product, seeking to support local and local manufacturers and industries.
