Interior Ministry Undersecretary meets iGA Chief

Manama, December 20 (BNA) The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs Sheikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa and the CEO of the Information and e-Government Authority Muhammad Ali Al-Qaed held a coordination meeting. A special passport renewal service was launched during the meeting on bahrain.bh. The meeting also reviewed the priorities, initiatives and upcoming electronic projects, such as electronic residence permits and the issuance of passports for the first time (newborns).

The Undersecretary affirmed that the electronic residence permit service will save time and effort for both sponsors and residents. Electronic work permits will replace work permit stickers. In addition, services will be available throughout the day without the need for personal attendance at service centers.

The National Immigration Management Authority introduced passport renewals in 2014, and the service attracted 52,000 transactions from January to November 2021. In addition, e-visa services were launched this year, and more than 55,000 visas were issued in the same period.

He stressed that the authority will continue to implement plans and programs to provide the best services to citizens and residents to contribute to achieving the economic goals of the Kingdom of Bahrain 2030.
