Interior Minister receives US Assistant Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs

Manama, Nov. 18 (BNA): Interior Minister Major General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa received today US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf. The meeting was attended by US Ambassador to Bahrain Stephen Bondy, Bahrain’s Ambassador to the US Sheikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, and Chief of Public Security Lieutenant General Tariq Al-Hassan.

The Minister of Interior praised the visit of the US official to the Kingdom of Bahrain to participate in the Manama Dialogue 2022, which will start on Friday evening. He highlighted the outstanding success of the parliamentary and municipal elections and the high turnout for them. He discussed the initiatives and programs of the Ministry of Interior, including the alternative penalties project within constructive community partnerships to enhance community security.


The Minister of Interior praised the strong ties and strategic partnership between Bahrain and the United States in enhancing regional security and protecting international peace and security. He highlighted the importance of cooperation, coordination and exchange of experiences in facing common security challenges.


The meeting highlighted the distinguished bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and security cooperation to serve common interests.


The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chief of Public Security and the Director General of Media and Security Culture.
