Interior Minister meets US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs

Washington, June 29 (BNA) Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa met with US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf.

The Minister is on an official visit to the United States in the context of the strong relations between the two countries.

Leaf stressed the importance of consolidating relations and cooperation, and stressed the importance of the upcoming visit of the US President to the region to meet with regional leaders within the framework of efforts to protect international peace and security.

The minister said that the Kingdom of Bahrain is moving forward with its civilized approach to coexistence and the consolidation of a culture of peace within the framework of the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Sheikh Rashid praised the strong relations and strategic partnerships between the two countries and their joint efforts in promoting regional stability and protecting international peace and security.

He praised the efforts of the United States to combat terrorism to counter Iranian interference in the internal affairs of countries in the region, including Bahrain, by financing and supporting terrorist cells, providing them with weapons and explosives, and harboring and training fugitive terrorists in Revolutionary Guard camps, in addition to providing them. Sheikh Rashid praised the level of cooperation and coordination between Bahrain and the United States in combating terrorism and exchanging experiences to confront regional and international security challenges.

The meeting reviewed various topics and efforts to achieve security and enhance regional stability.
