Deputy Chief of Public Security, US Chief of Operations of Drug Enforcement Administration sign MoU

Washington, June 29 (BNA) Deputy Chief of Public Security Major General Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and Chief of US Operations at the Drug Enforcement Administration Raymond Donovan signed a Memorandum of Understanding to combat drug trafficking and money laundering crimes through information exchange and enhancing cooperation.

Sheikh Hamad said that the memorandum of understanding contributes to the active exchange of information and implementation of measures to combat drug smuggling, and praised the level of security cooperation and coordination between the two friendly countries.

The memorandum of understanding was signed within the framework of the official visit of the Minister of Interior Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa to the United States.

Donovan highlighted the importance of the minister’s visit to enhance international cooperation and efforts to combat terrorism.

Sheikh Hamad affirmed the ministry’s keenness to enhance cooperation in the field of combating drug trafficking and to strengthen the application of laws to combat illegal drugs in order to protect public health and safety.

He highlighted decades of cooperation, including security related information, training courses, and conferences between Bahrain and the United States.
