Integrated Reconstruction and Post-Trauma Impact on Communities and Socio-Economic Aspects of Recovery conference kicks off

Manama, November 8 (BNA): The International Conference “The process of integrated reconstruction, the impact of post-traumatic stress on societies and socio-economic aspects of recovery” began through the Zoom platform today. The event, organized by the Arab Regional Center for World Heritage (ARC-WH), began with the participation of the President of the Center, Sheikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa. Experts attended Academics from around the world are also alongside representatives of international organizations, including primarily UNESCO, the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), the International Center for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), the World Bank and the World Monuments Fund.

In her opening speech, Sheikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa stressed the importance of strengthening joint efforts to preserve cultural heritage. She said that many Arab countries have witnessed during the past years unfortunate incidents and conflicts that led to the loss of many of their cultural and historical landmarks. It urged the Arab and international community to work together to address the negative effects on those historical sites.
