Installation of digital power metres on track, said EWA president

Manama, Jan. 4 (BNA): Electricity and Water Authority Chairman Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed said that the installation of high-tech digital energy meters is expected to be completed by June 2023 as planned.

He said that the project, which is on the right track, is one of EWA’s initiatives that aims to bring about digital transformation in Bahrain’s electricity and water sector.

The new digital meters provide subscribers with accurate readings automatically and remotely without the need for any human intervention, in addition to the automatic disconnection of the electrical current in the event of additional loads.

The new meters, which can also record readings related to the quality of electric current for subscribers, are characterized by the speed of activating subscribers’ accounts by connecting the electric current to the meters remotely without the need to visit the site.

The head of the Electricity and Water Authority said that the digital meters provide an automatic system that starts from reading until billing, in addition to the possibility of linking them during the next stage to smart applications so that the subscriber can accurately view his consumption pattern.
