Injured Sarr could miss African Cup of Nations with Senegal

London, November 30 (BNA): Senegal may be without Ismail Sarr in the African Nations Cup due to the winger’s injury to the knee ligaments.

Sarr was injured in Watford’s 4-1 win over Manchester United in the Premier League on November 20 and will need further examination “in about a month”, the English club said on Tuesday, before providing another update on his condition.

The African Cup kicks off on January 9 and the players are due to join their national teams at the end of December.

Sarr helped Senegal reach the final of the tournament in 2019, when the team lost to Algeria 1-0.

Sarr was unavailable for Watford’s 4-2 loss to Leicester on Sunday and is set to miss at least seven more Premier League games ahead of the busy holiday period, starting with a visit to Chelsea on Wednesday.
