Industry Minister and Gulf Air’s Chairman meets IATA Director-General

Geneva, November 25 (BNA) The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Zayed Rashid Al-Zayani, met with the Director General of the International Air Transport Association. (IATA) Mr. Willie Walsh at the association’s headquarters here, where they discussed a number of issues related to aviation, and elements of this vital economic sector to various income-generating areas such as tourism and investment.

During the visit, he expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the International Air Transport Association in supporting and developing the ever-changing aviation industry. He pointed out the importance of the role of the Federation in the sustainability of aviation, especially in light of the significant impact of the recent epidemic.

Walsh expressed his thanks and gratitude to the minister and to the national carrier as airline operations continued during the pandemic for helping to solve some of the global problems during that time. In addition, he stressed that Gulf Air remained one of the few airlines that continued to operate and never stopped flying during the pandemic, wishing the national airline success and prosperity.

Founded in 1945, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) is one of the most prominent associations in the aviation industry, connecting several commercial airlines through its membership, and is also involved in setting the aviation-related policies and regulations in which Gulf Air operates. Has been a member since 1981.
