iGA wins “Smart Citizens Engagement Award” for Tawasul App at 6th Bahrain Smart Cities Summit 2023

Manama, May 16 (BNA): The Information and e-Government Authority participated in the Sixth Smart Cities Summit 2023.

The event was held under the patronage of His Excellency Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, on May 16-17, 2023 at the Gulf Convention Center – Gulf Hotel.

The Information & eGovernment Authority participated in the panel discussion and the simultaneous exhibition that was organized alongside the summit with the participation of local and international entities.

During the opening ceremony, the CEO of the Information and eGovernment Authority, Muhammad Ali Al Qaed, received the Smart Cities Award 2023 – Smart Citizen Engagement category for the Tawasul application.

The application was honored for its features and electronic services that contribute to strengthening and enhancing community partnership to support smart cities.

Al-Qaed expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Organizing Committee for the good organization and the granting of the Information and e-Government Authority, wishing the summit success.

He stressed that the award reflects the government’s efforts to adopt technologies and provide advanced channels that enhance communication between citizens and residents with public entities and support the government’s efforts and policies towards sustainable development.

The Information & eGovernment Authority participates in a number of panel discussions as part of the summit programme, i.e. “Food Security and Agricultural Technology in Bahrain, Opportunities and Challenges”.

Head of Spatial Information and Remote Sensing Section – Geographic Information Systems Department 1 Fathi Al-Barsheed presents a number of IGA projects such as vegetation survey, soil mapping and plant atlas projects.

Fatima Abdul Karim, Head of Electronic Services Delivery at the Information and eGovernment Authority, participated in a panel discussion entitled “Empowering Smart Citizens” that shed light on the National Suggestions and Complaints System “Tawasul” and the Tawasul application, which highlighted its role in promoting interactive interaction with citizens as part of ICT initiatives that contribute to achieving this. Improving people’s quality of life.

The Information & eGovernment Authority participated in a pavilion in the simultaneous exhibition to display several digital transformation projects and systems that support real estate development and facilitate investor services.

The projects presented include the planning platform (www.planning.bh), which is an interactive digital platform that provides services related to the process and mechanism of land planning, in addition to providing electronic services for urban planning.

It is worth noting that the Bahrain Smart Cities Summit 2023 aimed to present a number of international practices in the field of digital transformation of smart cities and related challenges and strategies.
