iGA, EDB, BDB, and Hope Fund to join Tamkeen-sponsored Bahrain Pavilion in GITEX 2022

Manama, October 5 (BNA): Emphasizing the importance of representing the Kingdom of Bahrain in major international events, a number of strategic partners from the startup ecosystem in the Kingdom will join the Labor Fund (Tamkeen) at the Bahrain pavilion at the upcoming GITEX exhibition. 2022. The exhibition is scheduled to start on Monday 10 October at the Dubai World Trade Center and will last for five days until 14 October. Tamkeen sponsors the Bahrain Pavilion with the participation of 30 Bahraini small and medium-sized companies and start-ups in the information and communication technology sector. Bahrain’s participation is organized in cooperation with the Bahrain Association of Technology Companies (BTECH).

The Bahraini delegation will include representatives from Tamkeen, the Information and eGovernment Authority, the Bahrain Economic Development Board, the Bahrain Development Bank and the Hope Fund. This participation highlights the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting the ecosystem of local startups in all economic sectors, especially the information and communication technology sector, which contributes effectively to driving economic growth by creating job opportunities for local talent. This participation will also provide opportunities to attract international investments by meeting with global technology companies and exchanging knowledge and experience.

On this occasion, Ms. Maha Moviz, Acting CEO of the Labor Fund (Tamkeen), affirmed Tamkeen’s commitment to maintain continuous cooperation with the relevant government institutions that represent the Bahrain team in line with national priorities to achieve the objectives of the Economic Recovery Plan. Which leads to a greater impact on the national economy. She said: “It is our priority to represent the Kingdom of Bahrain at prestigious international events such as the annual GITEX which attracts some of the largest ICT companies from around the world. By sponsoring the Bahrain pavilion, we will support startups and SMEs from the local ICT sector and enable them to Enhance its performance and explore opportunities for growth and expansion, allowing it to promote its services and compete in regional and international markets.”

For his part, the CEO of the Information and eGovernment Authority, Mohammed Ali Al-Qaed, praised Tamkeen’s support for the Bahrain pavilion at GITEX 2022 and the role of the Bahrain Technology Companies Association in facilitating this participation. He stressed that the Information and eGovernment Authority’s participation is in line with its commitment to achieving the leadership’s vision and implementing the government’s action plan initiatives that aim to enhance the Kingdom of Bahrain’s participation in international events and strengthen relations with relevant authorities in various sectors.

Furthermore, Mr. Al Qaed expressed his pride in the Information and eGovernment Authority’s participation in this global technological event that provides opportunities for the Kingdom of Bahrain to showcase its latest initiatives in digital transformation, while providing a platform for the Information and eGovernment Authority to showcase its experience in digitization.
