ICT remains key for bahrain’s development

Manama, June 14 (BNA): Information and communications technology continues to play an important role in the future development of the Kingdom’s economy.

This was confirmed by Ahmed Al-Hujairi, CEO of Gulf Future Business, who said that information and communication technology will reshape the global economy and will remain one of the Kingdom’s main priorities for creating a knowledge-based economy.

Al-Hujairi was speaking to Bahrain News Agency (BNA) on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the MEET ICT Bahrain 2022 and BiTEX 2022 exhibitions.

Many telecom operators, ICT companies, IT vendors, technology service providers, telecom operator in Bahrain and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) are participating in the event.

Al-Hujairi said it was a proud moment for them to bring MEET ICT and BiTEX back to Bahrain after being suspended due to the pandemic.

“We have about 500 delegates taking part in the event today, and it certainly shows the companies’ eagerness to come back after a long hiatus with the pandemic,” he said.

“This event is attended by a large crowd of participants, exhibitors and delegates who will be able to network, network, do business and learn from each other. We view this event as a potential for economic growth for business in Bahrain because ICT is a major contributor to any national economy today and we want ICT to contribute very positively to Bahrain’s economy.”
