HRH the Deputy King attends the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism ceremony

Manama, June 19 (BNA) His Majesty the King’s Deputy, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, attended today the sixth session of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism, which was held under the patronage of His Highness.

During the ceremony, His Highness the Deputy King highlighted the prominent role of the national press in promoting the comprehensive development of the Kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

His Highness stressed the importance of promoting a free, accurate and responsible press that supports progress and development by raising awareness of national issues and development projects.

Then awards were presented to the following journalists:

• Best Column Award: Yasmine Khalaf – Albilad Newspaper

• Best Investigative Journalism Award: Alawi Al-Sayed Adnan Al-Moussawi – Albilad Newspaper

• Best Interview Award: Sarah Najib and Hussein Sabt – Al-Ayyam Newspaper

• Best Photography Award: Abdul Amir Al-Salatne – Gulf News Newspaper

His Highness congratulated the winners, wishing them success in providing reliable and attractive journalism that promotes social and economic progress and development.

Then His Excellency Dr. Ramadan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Minister of Information Affairs, delivered a speech in which he highlighted the freedom and openness that characterize the comprehensive development of the Kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The national press continues to practice its journalistic duties professionally.

Dr. Al-Nuaimi noted the commitment and support of His Highness the Vice King to the press in the Kingdom, and expressed his gratitude to His Royal Highness for sponsoring the event, noting the importance of the ceremony in recognizing the constructive societal role of the media.

The winners of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism expressed their gratitude and appreciation to His Royal Highness, the Viceroy, for his continued support of media professionals in the Kingdom and for the promotion of professional media standards throughout the Kingdom.


The ceremony was also attended by a number of senior officials, journalists and media professionals.
