Manama, Jan. 30 (BNA) His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received today at Riffa Palace the Minister of Interior His Excellency Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
During the meeting, His Highness directed to increase the use of the Alternative Procedures and Penalties Law in parallel with the launch of the Open Prisons Program.
His Royal Highness instructed the Ministry of Interior to expedite the implementation of the Alternative Sentences Program in the next stage, noting its importance in strengthening the criminal justice system in the Kingdom, in support of the comprehensive development goals, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad heard a briefing from His Excellency Major General Sheikh Rashid on the success that has been achieved so far in implementing the Penal Code and alternative measures included in the framework of the government’s priorities. His Highness was also briefed on the steps taken by the Ministry of Interior regarding the opening of prisons, which will effectively support the rehabilitation of inmates and their reintegration into society.
His Highness pointed out that security is the basis of comprehensive development, expressing his sincere thanks to the employees of the Ministry of Interior for their efforts in adopting initiatives that consolidate security and support the comprehensive development of the Kingdom.
For his part, His Excellency Major General Sheikh Rashid expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet His Royal Highness, and for His Highness’ continuous support to the Ministry of Interior in its efforts to enhance the provision of its services to citizens and residents.
The meeting was also attended by Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy.
