HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister chairs weekly Cabinet Meeting

Manama, Jan. 10 (BNA) His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister chaired today the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers at Al-Qudaibiya Palace.

The Cabinet congratulated the National Guard on the 25th anniversary of its founding, and praised its readiness and efficiency in performing national duties, including its vital role in protecting the Kingdom of Bahrain.

On the occasion of the Diplomatic Day, which is held annually in Bahrain on January 14, the Cabinet noted the success of the diplomatic mission of the Kingdom of Bahrain over the past 50 years. The Cabinet reiterated that the Kingdom of Bahrain will continue to establish and strengthen relations with other countries to serve national security and development.

Within the framework of the royal directive to provide 40,000 housing units for citizens, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, directed the allocation of an additional 2,000 housing units for citizens. His Royal Highness assigned the Ministry of Housing to distribute the concerned housing units to the governorates of the Kingdom by February of this year.

After reviewing a memorandum submitted by the government executive committee regarding the fourth edition of the government innovation competition “Fikra”, the Cabinet indicated that the competition received a large number of high-quality entries. The Cabinet announced that the benefits of the winning projects will be studied so that they can be implemented through ministries and government agencies.

The Cabinet noted the measures taken by the concerned authorities with regard to consumer protection. The Cabinet directed the intensification of inspection campaigns to ensure the implementation of the technical, organizational and procedural aspects of consumer protection laws.

The Cabinet concluded by reviewing the latest developments in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Cabinet expressed its wishes to Kazakhstan for security and stability, and to maintain peace that is in the interest of the people and the prosperity of the country.

During the meeting, the Council of Ministers discussed several memoranda with the following results:

Agree to the following notes:

1. A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on ways of cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities. The memorandum aims to advance the common goals that benefit the Kingdom and its citizens, and to adopt a government guide to support this.

2. The memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Financial Balance regarding the draft decision to license the private port and renew licenses.

3. The memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s response to the Parliament’s proposal.

The council also reviewed the following topics:

1 – A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft law approving the accession of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation.

2. A memorandum from the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Financial Balance regarding the committee’s work during 2021, which focused on implementing the government’s program and the financial balance program and their priorities, which revolve around 7 pillars and include: 31 programmes.

3. The memorandum of the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs regarding the electronic transformation of 10 services for more than 400,000 subscribers.
