HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister chairs weekly Cabinet Meeting

Manama, December 27 (BNA) His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister chaired today the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers at Al-Qudaibiya Palace.

The Cabinet congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, following the successful launch of the first joint Bahraini-Emirati satellite, “Light-1”. The Cabinet indicated that this important project is in line with the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in supporting space science and exploration.

The Cabinet offered its best wishes to His Majesty the King, His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince, Prime Minister, residents and citizens of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the coming new year. The Cabinet indicated its ambition to make 2022 a successful and prosperous year for Bahrain and the rest of the world.

Then the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism briefed the Cabinet on the plan to restructure the Gulf Aluminum Rolling Mill (GARMCO), which was carried out under the Reorganization and Bankruptcy Law that was recently applied in the Kingdom’s courts. The Cabinet explained that restructuring the company contributed to its sustainability and preservation of 700 jobs.

The Cabinet strongly condemned the terrorist act carried out by the Houthi militia by launching projectiles on the cities of Najran and Jazan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which led to the killing of two civilians and the injury of others.

The Cabinet extends the sincere condolences of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the families and relatives of those who lost their lives, wishing the injured a speedy recovery and a full recovery.

The Cabinet affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its full support for all the measures it takes to maintain its security, stability and territorial integrity.

During the meeting, the Council of Ministers discussed a number of memoranda with the following results:

Agree to the following notes:

1. Memorandum from the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Bahrain (UoB) and Huawei Technologies Bahrain SPC. The MoU establishes a working relationship to publish training programs for the transfer of ICT technologies to the University of Bahrain, through the Huawei Accredited Academic Information and Networking Program.

2. The memorandum of the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning regarding the total and partial acquisition of several real estate for public use.

3. The memorandum of the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning regarding a draft decision on the controls on the import, sale and cultivation of the Damas tree also known as Conocarpus lancifolius.

4. The memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s response to the Parliament’s proposal.

The Cabinet reviewed the following topics:

1. A memorandum by the Minister of Cabinet Affairs regarding the air quality report issued by the Supreme Council for the Environment for the year 2021. The air quality in the Kingdom was monitored and analyzed through specialized stations according to methodologies approved by the World Health Organization, which showed that most of the air components in the Kingdom of Bahrain are within normal levels. .

2. A report on the priorities of the National Contact Center for the year 2022, which is based on 7 main axes of action, and contains 24 initiatives.

Then the Council of Ministers took note of the ministerial reports related to the following: the Kingdom’s participation in the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Afghanistan, the joint ministerial meeting of the meeting of foreign ministers of the United Kingdom and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and the forty-first meeting of the Council of Arab Social Affairs Ministers, as well as the participation of ministers Foreign Affairs and visits of foreign delegations to the Kingdom of Bahrain for the month of January 2022.
