HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister chairs the weekly Cabinet Meeting

Manama, June 5 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired today the weekly cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.

On the occasion of the royal order issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to adjourn the first session of the sixth legislative term of the National Assembly, the Cabinet praised the strength of cooperation and coordination between the legislative and executive authorities. Their role in advancing the national development of the Kingdom.

His Royal Highness directed the concerned government agencies to disburse the monthly living allowance retroactively to retirees from January 2023 to June 2023. This step follows agreements between the legislative and executive branches during the discussion of the draft national budget law for the year 2023-2024. fiscal year. His Highness praised the coordination between the two authorities in serving the Kingdom and its citizens, and the efforts of the public sector and specialized committees in the Shura Council and the House of Representatives during the discussion of the draft budget law.

His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister also directed the concerned authorities to pay living allowances to government employees and people with disabilities as of June 2023, in accordance with the new agreements between the legislative and executive branches.

The Cabinet congratulated the Bahraini graduates who completed the academic year, and thanked parents, teachers and administrators at the Ministry of Education for their contributions to achieving these educational successes.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Cabinet affirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to adopting more innovative initiatives, programs and solutions that enhance environmental security. In this regard, His Highness announced an increase in the planting of mangroves for the year 2023 from 230,000 to 460,000 trees. This reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to the goals of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26), which includes a target to quadruple mangrove coverage by 2035.

Then the Cabinet expressed its condolences to the government and people of the Republic of India following the collision of three trains in the Balasore region of the state of Odisha in eastern India, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

During the meeting, the Cabinet discussed several memorandums approving the following:

1. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft decision to amend Article Two of the decision establishing and forming the Supreme Committee for the Bahrain International Airshow.

2. A note submitted by the Minister of Sustainable Development regarding the Second Voluntary National Review explaining Bahrain’s progress in achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals.

3. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s response to 4 proposals submitted by the House of Representatives.

The Council also reviewed a memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Financial Balance regarding the guide to requirements for commercial activities within the initiatives aimed at developing government services for business owners.

The Cabinet also referred to the following ministerial reports:

1- On behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister attended and participated in the inauguration ceremony of the re-elected President of the Republic of Turkey.
2. Participation in the forty-ninth session of the Arab Labor Conference
3. Participation in the Seventy-sixth World Health Assembly and in the session of the Executive Council of the World Health Organization
4. The outcomes of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s participation in the international reading skills test in the Arab region
5. The international accreditation obtained by the Bahrain Teachers College from the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education in the United States of America.
6. Participation in the closing ceremony of Formula 1 in schools in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
7. External participation of ministers and visits of foreign delegations to the Kingdom of Bahrain
