HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister chairs the weekly Cabinet Meeting

Manama, August 1 (BNA) His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired today the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers at Al-Qudaibiya Palace.

The Cabinet stressed the importance of providing adequate housing and effective services to Bahraini citizens. This goal is in line with the comprehensive development goals set by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to develop innovative housing solutions in cooperation with the private sector.

The Cabinet announced the launch of the new housing financial project, “Tas’heel for Affordable Housing Solutions”. The new program will include three financing options, including a real estate facility, a Bait Al Oud facility, and a cooperation facility, in addition to launching a new category of Mazaya. Social housing scheme ‘with the previous version of Mazaya.

The new housing finance scheme will raise the minimum and maximum credit limits, as well as housing finance ceilings, according to which citizens may receive direct support from the government. Following a memorandum submitted by the Governmental Executive Committee, the Cabinet directed the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning to outline the process for citizens’ access to the new housing financing scheme.

Then, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad reviewed the implementation of his directives to assess the damages caused by the floods, compensate those affected by the rainfall in Al-Lawzi, and follow up on the steps taken to develop sustainable infrastructure solutions in the region. His Highness the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister praised the quick efforts made by the ministries and concerned authorities in this regard, which were included in the memorandum submitted by the Minister of Works.

His Highness directed the ministries and agencies concerned to follow up on the needs of the Kingdom’s governorates during Ashura. In this regard, His Highness the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister were briefed on the meeting of the Minister of Interior, the General Authority for Husseiniya Processions and the heads of Husseiniyas in the Kingdom.

During the meeting, the Council of Ministers discussed several memoranda with the following results:

1. A memorandum submitted by the Government Executive Committee regarding the implementation of a fixed billing system for electricity and water bills as of August. Under the memo, beneficiaries will be able to optionally receive a flat bill throughout the year, based on the average electricity and water consumption over the past 12 months.

2. A memorandum submitted by the Governmental Executive Committee on the Bahrain Polytechnic’s development plan and the transfer of the Bahrain Training Institute’s affiliation to the Polytechnic.

The memorandum aims to enhance participation in vocational education in line with the needs of the labor market in the Kingdom.

3. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft decision to reconstitute the National Committee to Combat Smoking and all types of tobacco and its products.

4. The memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s response to 3 draft proposals and two draft laws from the House of Representatives.
