HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister chairs the weekly Cabinet Meeting

Manama, July 25 (BNA) His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister chaired today the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers at Al-Qudaibiya Palace.

The Council of Ministers expressed its best wishes to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, citizens and residents of Bahrain, and all other Arab and Islamic countries, on the occasion of the upcoming Islamic month. New Year 1444 AH.

The Cabinet noted the success of the Kingdom of Bahrain in maintaining its first category position in the US State Department’s report on human trafficking, which is the highest international rating in the government’s performance to combat human trafficking. The Cabinet highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to protecting the rights of citizens and residents throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, a pledge in line with the Kingdom’s comprehensive development, under the leadership of His Majesty the King and with the support of His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. In this regard, the Council of Ministers directed to maintain the current policies and measures to combat human trafficking to ensure that the Kingdom continues to maintain its first category status.

His Highness the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister directed more oversight, accountability and responsibility regarding the management of public funds, and expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Interior and everyone who contributed to identifying individuals responsible for committing administrative or financial violations. .

The Cabinet highlighted the Kingdom of Bahrain’s accession to the Integrated Industrial Partnership for Sustainable Economic Development, which the United Arab Emirates, the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan join, to enhance the integration of economic and industrial capabilities and expertise. Diversify the economy, promote growth and provide good job opportunities.

The Cabinet welcomed the agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine to resume the export of grain from both countries through the Black Sea, noting the importance of the agreement for food security, addressing the global shortage of grain and reducing grain prices.

The Council of Ministers stressed the importance of resolving the conflict by peaceful means, diplomatic solutions and dialogue, and securing a lasting and comprehensive peace.

During the meeting, the Council of Ministers discussed several memoranda with the following results:

Agree to the following notes:

1. The memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and the balance of public finances on the preliminary estimates of the state budget for the fiscal year 2023-2024.

2 – A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft decree-law amending the provisions of the decree-law establishing a retirement fund for Bahraini and non-Bahraini officers and personnel of the Bahrain Defense Force and Public Security. Decree-Law on the management and functions of the Fund.

3. The memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on the proposed legislative amendments to reflect changes in the areas of responsibility of some ministries, after recent ministerial appointments.

4. The memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s response to a draft law submitted by the House of Representatives.

5. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Industry and Trade regarding enhancing the Kingdom’s economic competitiveness.

6. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Education and Training Quality Authority, regarding the approval of the Authority’s reports.

The Cabinet reviewed the following topics:

1. The memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance on the economic indicators of the Kingdom for the first half of 2022. The memorandum provided a positive report on the economic performance of the Kingdom, reflecting the commitment of the Bahrain team to the implementation of economic recovery. Planning and supporting the economic development of the Kingdom.

Finally, the Cabinet took note of a ministerial report on the Kingdom’s participation in the Farnborough International Airshow.
