Manama, Nov. 18 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, witnessed today the fourth edition of the Bahrain International Cup, which was held at the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club.
His Highness praised Bahrain’s competitive elements and its strong capabilities that enabled it to attract regional and international sporting events, which reflect the visions and aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
His Highness affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain has become a leading destination for hosting sporting events, which was evident in the success of the Bahrain International Cup, which strengthened the Kingdom’s global position in the field of global sports.
His Royal Highness, with the participation of owners, trainers, riders and horses from prestigious international stables, praised the progress made in the sport of horse racing and its continuous achievements, indicating that the presence of a wide group of horse racing professionals reflects the presence of the race. The remarkable progress made by the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club in positioning Bahrain as a regional center for horse racing.
His Highness pointed out that the positive response to hosting this sporting event reflects the world-class facilities of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its ability to host international races.
His Highness stressed the importance of continuing to implement the plans and programs set for the development of horse racing to achieve the desired goals. His Highness expressed his desire to host more international races and championships that make Bahrain a famous destination for horse racing.
His Highness noted the organization and coordination of the fourth edition of the Bahrain International Cup, and welcomed the great diversity of the participants in the race.
His Highness congratulated the winners, and wished the rest of the participants success in future races.
His Royal Highness presented the Bahrain International Cup to the winner, Saeed bin Suroor, after his horse “Dubai the Future” from the Godolphin stable from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) won first place in the eighth and main race, while “Passion and Glory” won and “Riocorvo” and “Magny” came Cours” ranked third and fourth, respectively.
For his part, His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Committee of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club, affirmed the Supreme Committee’s continuous commitment to achieving its forward-looking goals in line with the aspirations of His Majesty the King. and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Prime Minister, to ensure the Kingdom’s survival as a leading destination for horse racing. In this regard, His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Salman indicated that the Bahrain International Cup strengthened its position as one of the most anticipated races in the final stage of the season, pointing to the success of the fourth edition.
With the increasing demand in the racing community, His Highness outlined the Supreme Committee’s ambition to build on this success and continue to strengthen the Kingdom’s role as a home to various international races.
The race was also attended by His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Higher Committee of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club, His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Khalifa, a number of senior officials, sponsor representatives and a large audience of international horse racing fans.
The winners of the other cups received cups, as the CEO of the Economic Development Board, Khalid Ibrahim Humaidan, presented the cup for the second race to Abdullah Fawzi Nass, while Linda Janahi, Executive Director of Corporate Services at the Economic Development Board, presented the cup for the first race. Batelco Chairman, Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, presented the Batelco Cup for the fifth race to winning jockey Edinson Rodriguez, while Batelco Chief Executive Officer Mikel Venter presented the Batelco Cup for the sixth race to winning jockey Harry Davis.
Bapco CEO Dr. Abdul Rahman Jawahery presented the Bapco Cup for the fourth race to the winner Haider Ibrahim, while the Chairman of Bapco Board of Directors Abdullah Jihad Al-Zein presented the Bapco Cup for the seventh race. To winning jockey Paul Hanagan.
Seven races were held for the Batelco, Bapco and Economic Development Board Cups, sponsors of the international race, and the results were as follows:
The first race of the Economic Development Board Cup was held, which was contested by the Bahraini Arabian horses known as WAHO at a distance of 1200 metres.
“Al-Saqlawi 1841” from Al-Riffa stable, trained by Youssef Al-Buainain, and his predecessor, Hussein Asghar, followed by “Al-Karsh 1823” from Al-Sakhir stables, trained by Jaafar Marzouq and Abdullah Faisal, in second place. In third place came the film “Al-Shawaf 1817” from the Riffa stable, which was trained by Youssef Al-Buainain and his guard Adnan Jaafar, while “Milshan 1865” from the Victorious stable, which was trained by Youssef Taher and the knight Hussain Makki, came in fourth place.
The second race was held for the Economic Development Board Cup for local horses at a distance of 1800 meters. The race was won by “Living Art”, owned by Abdullah Sami Nass and trained by Hisham Al-Haddad and rider Stephane Ledge, followed by “Show Wash” from Al-Nawif Stables, trained by Alan Smith and competing in second place, Edinson Rodriguez. In third place came “Lahouq”, owned by Rashid Racing Stable, trained by Youssef Al-Buainain and raced by Marcialis Joris, and “Hajeer” owned by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah bin Isa Al Khalifa, trained by Haider Ibrahim and competed by Abdullah Faisal. He came in fourth place.
The third race was held for local horses at a distance of 2,200 meters, in which the mare, “Mughira” from the Nayifat stable, trained by Abdullah Kuwaiti and riding by Jerome Mootard, won the victory.
In second place was “The Professor” from Al Bastaki Racing Stables, which was trained by Salahuddin Al Bastaki and ridden by Rosie Jessup.
And in third place came “Sinjar” from Al-Nawif Racing Stables, which was trained by Abdullah Kuwaiti and owned by Salem Al-Ajmi.
Asala from Al Bastaki Racing Stables, trained by Fawzi Nass and owned by Hussain Makki, came fourth.
The fourth race was held within the Bapco Cup Championship for the local category, category 1 – category 3, at a distance of 1200 meters, and in it was the “Khazama” owned by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Ad Allah bin Isa Al Khalifa, trained and ridden by Haider Ibrahim. By Abdullah Faisal, he got the first place.
In second place was “Toulouse Le Plot” from Victorious Stables, trained by A.M. Smith and owned by Edinson Rodriguez.
He came in third place, “Qamari” from the Al-Afour race, trained by Muhammad Hassan and ridden by Alberto Sana’a.
Dirab from Ras Rumman Syndicate Stables, trained by Talib Ali and ridden by Robert Tartt, finished fourth.
The fifth race was also held as part of the Batelco Cup Over 1000 metres, Class 1 – Class 2 Domestic Import, where M and E Racing owned ‘Roman River’, trained by A.M. Smith and ridden by Edinson Rodriguez came in first.
In second place came “Najm Al Moheet” from Afour Racing Company, trained by Mohamed Hassan and ridden by Alberto Sana.
Mooriyat Racing’s “First Edition”, trained by A.M. Smith and owned by Paul Hanagan, was third.
Mohammedia Racing’s Dark Shadow, trained by Osama Hashem and ridden by Liam Kennery, finished fourth.
The sixth race of the Batelco Cup was held and horses of all classes (imported) competed over 2,400 metres, with “Rayonpour” of Al Adiyat Racing, trained by AM Smith and ridden by Harry Davies, winning first place.
The regulars’ “Recovery Race,” trained by A.M. Smith and ridden by Payl Hanagan, finished second.
And in third place came “Wessam Al-Tal” from the Navigator’s Syndicate, who was trained by A. Jalil Al-Mallah, ridden by Andrew Breslin.
And came in fourth place, the movie “Shaga'” from the Mohammedia race, which was trained by Hisham Al-Hada and ridden by Liam Kennery.
The seventh race, as part of the Bapco Cup, contested with an imported handicap over 1600 metres, was won by ‘Justino’ of Al Adiyat Racing, trained by A.M. Smith and ridden by Paul Hanegan.
And came in second place, “Maystar” from the Al-Afw Racing Team, trained by Mohamed Hassan and ridden by Alberto Sana’a.
MKAR Racing’s “Ecosystem”, trained by Haider Ibrahim and ridden by Andrea Atzeni, was third.
And came in fourth place, “Gawaba”, owned by Mustafa Jaafar Ali Omran, trained by Osama Hashem, and ridden by Jerome Mottard.
