HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa hails Bahraini women’s achievements

Manama, Nov. 30 (BNA): A memorial to Bahraini women was unveiled today, amidst celebrations on the occasion of the annual Bahraini Women’s Day, which falls on December 1 of each year.


Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, sponsored the inauguration of the “Athar” landmark.


In her speech at the ceremony, she praised the achievements of Bahraini women and their access to leadership positions, praising their long-standing national positions and their role in caring for their families and serving the country.


She praised the institutions and personalities for their contribution to supporting the Supreme Council for Women, and congratulated all the award winners.


She praised UN Women’s commitment to supporting Bahrain’s efforts in the field of women’s advancement, stressing keenness to continue cooperation to achieve common goals and serve women.


During the ceremony, the names of the winners of the Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa International Award for Empowerment of Women were announced as follows:


The Office of the Attorney General of the Federative Republic of Brazil for its national program to confront domestic violence by expanding women’s assistance units in the Brazilian state of Bahia to provide emergency protection and empower them economically and socially.

– Private sector category: “De Olivet” company from the Republic of Nigeria, which works on innovations in the field of clean energy to achieve zero waste resulting from the use of firewood as an energy source in rural neighborhoods, in order to raise the quality of life for women and families.

– Civil Society category: “Rukungiri Foundation for the Integrated Development of Women” from the Republic of Uganda, a women’s organization working to promote the rights and well-being of women and girls exposed to poverty and domestic violence.

Individual category: Egyptian Nawal Sayed Mostafa Attia, an activist with a long history in the field of the rights of women prisoners and their children. Through her journalistic work and individual contributions, she seeks to improve their social and economic conditions.

During the ceremony, the winners of the seventh session of the “Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award for the Advancement of Bahraini Women” were announced as follows:

– Public sector (ministries and official bodies): Ministry of Health.

Public sector (official institutions): Labor Fund (Tamkeen).

– Private sector (major companies): Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco).

Medium-sized companies: Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat).

– Small businesses: Export Bahrain.

– Civil Society Organizations: Bahrain Diabetes Association.

Individuals: Dr. Amal Abdul Rahman Al-Jowder.

The winners of the fourth edition of the Young Women Entrepreneurs Seal of Honor were also announced as follows:

– Fatima Ibrahim Al-Ansari: Virtual reality technologies are used to present engineering designs that keep pace with the principles of sustainability and environmental preservation.

-Dr. Sarah Moamen Al-Rifi established a specialized center to provide surgical and therapeutic services and early diagnosis of breast cancer in Bahrain and abroad.

Maryam Abdul Rahman Al Mansouri: Owner of the first factory in the Kingdom of Bahrain to manufacture innovative plant products.

-Dr. Mai Ibrahim Matar: She created an electronic platform that provides high-quality diagnostic services for radiological analysis and remote diagnosis.

– Hessa Falah Al-Binfalah: She established an engineering project for interior designs run by a Bahraini female cadre whose designs are inspired by Bahraini architecture.

– Lulwa Abdulrahman Al-Mannai: She established a Bahraini brand to manufacture bags from natural leather.
