Washington, March 2 (BNA) His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Prime Minister, met today with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. pentagonal.
His Highness the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Prime Minister, shed light on the depth of the Bahraini-US relations, especially the 75-year military and defense partnership. In this regard, His Highness stressed the importance of further strengthening military and defense cooperation to achieve common aspirations.
His Highness pointed out the importance of joint efforts to consolidate international peace and security in view of the current challenges.
His Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad praised Bahrain’s role and efforts alongside its allies to confront challenges that impede progress and development at the international level.
For his part, the US Secretary of Defense affirmed the US commitment to strengthening its long-term strategic defense partnership with Bahrain.
The US Secretary of Defense also noted Bahrain’s prominent leadership role in securing maritime security and its reliability as a major non-NATO strategic ally, which was demonstrated by its recent support for relief efforts and evacuations from Afghanistan last year.
They also discussed issues of common interest and the importance of strengthening defense cooperation and coordination to support international efforts to enhance security, stability and development.
