HM King’s directives to promote human rights praised by Arab Parliament Speaker

Cairo, October 16 (BNA) The Speaker of the Arab House of Representatives, Adel bin Abdulrahman Al-Asumi affirmed that the Kingdom has achieved many achievements in the field of human rights thanks to the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. .

In this regard, he referred to the package of initiatives adopted by the Kingdom to consolidate human rights principles as a result of His Majesty’s direct support for the rule of law and institutions, which was confirmed by His Majesty during the opening of the fourth session of the Fifth Legislative Council. condition.

This came during Al-Soumi’s speech while presiding over the opening session of the second session of the third legislative term of the Arab Parliament, which was held at the headquarters of the Associated Press here today.

In his speech before the session, Al-Soumi referred to the steady development of the human rights system in the Kingdom, in line with the directives of His Majesty the King to start putting in place the necessary executive mechanisms to adopt the reform program and open prisons in the Kingdom, through which he said that it represents a pioneering qualitative leap that resulted from a civilized and enlightened mindset in the field of human rights.

The head of the Associated Press also highlighted other initiatives that the Kingdom is currently implementing, such as the system of alternative sentences and restorative justice for children, which are in line with the highest international human rights standards.

The AP session also included the inauguration of the Arab Center for Combating Terrorism and Extremist Ideology as an institutional tool to provide the necessary technical support in this vital field. It is also the first center of its kind in the Arab world to support parliamentary efforts to combat terrorism.
