HM King issues Decree-Law (35) of 2022

Manama, September 29 (BNA) His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today issued Decree-Law No. (35) of 2022 amending Article (3) of Decree-Law (27) of 2002 regarding the establishment of the Constitutional Court. Based on the opinion of the General Assembly of the Constitutional Court and after the approval of the Council of Ministers.


Pursuant to the Decree-Law, Article (3) of Decree-Law (27) of 2002 regarding the establishment of the Constitutional Court is amended as follows:


The court consists of a president, a vice president and five members who are appointed by royal order for a period of five years, renewable for other similar terms.


In the absence of the president or his inability to perform the powers of his job, the vice president shall replace him, and he shall have the same powers as the president.


If the office of Chief Justice, Vice-President, or any member of the Court becomes vacant by reason of resignation, death, health disability, or any other cause, another office shall be appointed by royal order to replace him for a term of five. A generic term that can be renewed for other similar terms.


The decree-law shall be effective immediately upon its publication in the Official Gazette.
