HM King affirms Bahrain’s commitment to human rights

Manama, June 1 (BNA) His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa stressed the approach of the Kingdom of Bahrain in protecting and respecting human rights in a way that guarantees the welfare of citizens.

He renewed Bahrain’s firm commitment to all international conventions and laws related to human rights, which are an essential part of Bahrain’s culture, Arab identity and Islamic faith.

His Majesty the King made this statement while receiving members of the National Institution for Human Rights headed by Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, who presented the report of the National Institution for Human Rights 2021.

His Majesty the King praised the achievements and activities aimed at promoting and developing human rights in Bahrain, and cooperating and communicating with international organizations and bodies in a framework of transparency and clarity to work on the protection and consolidation of human rights.

He praised the achievements of human rights in Bahrain, which has become a leading model in this field, in accordance with the principles of human rights stipulated in the National Action Charter, the Constitution, and relevant laws and legislation, in addition to the ratified international and regional instruments and treaties. He commended the Board of Commissioners of the National Institution for Human Rights and the General Secretariat for their role in promoting human rights, working to consolidate their values, spreading societal awareness, and contributing to ensuring their free and independent exercise.

Al-Darazi expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to His Majesty the King for his constant keenness and guidance to promote human rights in Bahrain, with the support of the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
