Health Minister receives WHO delegation

Manama, November 11 (BNA) Health Minister Faeqa bint Saeed Al-Saleh received today a delegation from the World Health Organization, in the presence of the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health, Dr. Maryam Al-Hajri.

The meeting, which was also attended by the Director of the WHO Office, Dr. Tasneem Al-Aatreh, and the Regional Adviser to the Food Program, Dr. Ayoub Al-Jawaldeh, focused on reviewing the recommendations of a feasibility study for investing in the prevention of non-communicable diseases.

Al-Saeed praised the level of cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization to provide strategic support to the health sector that contributes to the sustainability of services.

She said that protecting citizens and residents is a top priority, especially patients suffering from non-communicable diseases, pointing to concerted national efforts to strengthen prevention and control of these types of diseases.

She stressed the role played by the National Committee for Combating Non-Communicable Diseases, noting the ministry’s efforts in strengthening services and consolidating public health.

The delegation commended Bahrain’s actions, adding that its four-day visit which began on November 8 focused on reviewing recommendations for investing in chronic non-communicable diseases and discussing events designed for the 2022-2023 period.
