Health Minister meets WHO chief

Geneva, May 27 (BNA) Health Minister Faeqa bint Saeed Al-Saleh met today with the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on the sidelines of the 75th conferenceThe tenth World Health Assembly, currently sitting here.


The Minister conveyed the congratulations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the President of the World Health Organization after his re-election to his position.


She wished the World Health Organization every success in its next session, affirming the Ministry of Health’s support for all of the organization’s programs and activities.


Minister Al-Salih commended Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus for the outstanding management of the World Health Organization, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.


The two sides discussed areas of cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the World Health Organization, including future plans and programs to confront epidemics and infectious diseases.


The President of the World Health Organization expressed his thanks and appreciation to the government and people of Bahrain, praising its efforts in supporting the role of the World Health Organization, especially in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.


He pointed out that the Kingdom is known for its successes in the fields of medicine and health care, thanks to the government’s tireless efforts to support the health and treatment system.


He expressed his readiness to develop health plans and strategies that are compatible with global health goals.
