Health Minister attends WHA opening session

Geneva, May 21 (BNA): Minister of Health, Dr. Jalila bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan, today attended the opening of the 76th session of the World Health Assembly (WHA), which was held in Geneva, Switzerland until May 31.

The opening sessions discussed the main topics on the agenda, with a primary focus on the global strategy for women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health, and universal health coverage.

The minister delivered the statement of the Kingdom of Bahrain under the slogan “The World Health Organization after 75 years: saving lives, achieving health for all.”

She expressed her congratulations on the end of the pandemic, after the Geneva-based World Health Organization declared that the virus no longer constituted a global health emergency.

She praised the international efforts that contributed to overcoming the global health challenge, praising the role of effective partnerships in protecting societies, which led to the integration of immunity and the return to normal life to continue implementing the Millennium Development Goals.

And she stressed the government’s commitment to supporting global initiatives aimed at achieving health for all, by launching several initiatives aimed at involving all countries in these international health trends and achieving sustainable development goals. .

She paid tribute to the memory of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, praising their support for building a workable, integrated and comprehensive system that provides high-quality health care services to all members of society. All social segments and promotion of preventive plans, immunization programs and vaccination coverage in all stages of life.

She commended the role led by the World Health Organization for years, which contributed to reinforcing health as a basic human right that must be made available to all.

The opening ceremony was attended by Ambassador Dr. Youssef Abdul Karim Muhammad Bucheery, Director General of Legal Affairs and Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
