The client of Linum Consult is a major international company, and is currently in need of a Head of Insurance to be based in its Doha office.
responsibilities
• Leading the Group’s Insurance Department in developing and maintaining an effective framework for assessing insurable risks in the country
• Leading Group Insurance to identify the insurance needs of the business, in compliance with the Group’s Insurance Department policy
• Defining the insurance strategy for the company, with a view to ensuring optimal distribution of risk to the market, compliance with regulatory and contractual arrangements while minimizing the overall “cost of risk”
• Ensure the purchase of the best insurance coverage and related services at the best prices for both global and local insurances
• Effective management of all activities related to insurance programs and contracts, ensuring control over issuance of insurance policies, and documenting compliance with evidence
• Managing the relationship with the insurance market
• Manage insurance claims and manage relationships and communications with insurance companies, insurance company engineers and loss analysts
• Lead the global insurance division to negotiate with insurance brokers and insurers on specific claims management procedures that must be met in the event of a claim
• Ensure provision of claims related information containing a qualitative and quantitative presentation of all business outstanding unresolved claims, loss ratio trends for settled claims, and claims settlement projections for the year
• Ensure provision of all relevant insurance data, and ensure an effective integrated process for data collection, analysis, quality control and reporting on insurable risks
• Maintaining an IT platform with a global view aiming to provide dashboards and dynamic reports to the Executive Management on insurance coverages, costs, underwriting, claims management and claims history
salary:
45,000 to 50,000 QR per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
Profile personly
• Degree qualification in Finance or Business Administration, ideally with a professional qualification. Preferably have an MBA in International Business from a recognized management school
• Preferably an Associate or Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute or equivalent in the United States
• At least 8-10 years’ experience in insurance for a large international company, with at least 4-5 years in a similar position or level of responsibility
• Preferably have 5 years of exposure to the power and electricity markets, from an insurance perspective
Demonstrable history of working with international insurance brokers, loss underwriters, insurance engineers, and risk managers
• Excellent knowledge of the insurance market space
• Previous work experience in Qatar or other Gulf regions
