Gulf Radio and Television Festival marks milestone in Gulf media growth

Manama, June 20 (BNA) The Gulf Radio and Television Festival 2022 was highlighted during an introductory media conference held this evening.

The conference was chaired by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, Dr. Abdul Rahman Bahr, Director General of Gulf Radio and Television and Secretary General of the Gulf Radio and Television Festival Majri bin Mubarak Al Qahtani.

The conference discussed the important objectives of the festival’s activities, competitions and workshops, and highlighted the importance of the event in presenting the television and radio industry in the region as a productive and creative field, supporting Gulf media and creative pioneers, and stimulating youth capabilities in the media.

In his welcoming remarks, the Undersecretary stressed the keenness to hold the festival in the wake of the challenges imposed by the Corona pandemic.

He explained that the festival is an important and vital platform for gathering and meeting media workers and exchanging ideas in various fields of media and artistic production in the Gulf.

He explained that this reflects the Gulf awareness and identity, and the attention and support given by the Gulf leaders to the contribution it provides to promoting the integration of joint Gulf action in various frameworks and fields to achieve higher levels of growth and development.

Bahrar added that the festival’s preparatory committees studied the role of youth in digital media and ways to enhance the appropriate environment to incubate and enhance their creativity.

“The festival returns to you with a new spirit that does not know the impossible, especially after Covid-19, and we chose our slogan, our media, our identity, based on the importance of the Gulf media and its impact on the world. Informational space.

“We believe that our identity is an element of strength that must be invested and reflected in our media so that the world can clearly preserve the Gulf media.”

The festival has been around for more than 40 years since it was first launched in Kuwait in 1980 and has moved to Bahrain since its fourth edition.

Artists, media professionals and officials from production companies from all over the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Arab region participate in this festival, which remains the incubator of creativity in the region.

The festival seeks to exchange experiences between the Gulf media, the Arab world and the world, presenting prominent media broadcasting techniques in all its forms, and professional and specialized workshops in the fields of media.

Saudi actor Fayez said: “It gives me great pleasure to be part of the festival here in Bahrain after an absence of six years, in the presence of senior officials and media personalities to discuss recent media challenges and aspects in the Gulf and the Arab region.” Maliki said.

The festival, with more than 300 participants, including TV and radio stars, and examining 300 artworks evaluated by 75 judges, will officially begin on June 21 and run through June 23.

It presents radio and television competitions for radio and television programs produced by Gulf radio and television institutions. Radio and television program competitions for stations and production companies in the Arab world and short films.

The festival will broadcast daily live TV broadcasts by the official and sponsoring TV stations and a daily magazine on the festival’s activities.

A specialized workshop will discuss topics related to radio and television media, youth and women, and important media issues, while the media center and media journalists and journalists participating in the festival will serve.
