Ghana fires coach Rajevac after early exit at African Cup

Accra, Jan. 27 (BNA): Ghana sacked coach Milovan Rajevac after being knocked out in the group stage of the African Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars will be looking for a replacement ahead of their World Cup playoff against Nigeria in March.

The Associated Press reported that the decision to remove Rajivak from his post was made late Wednesday.

Four-times champions Ghana finished last in their African Cup group after collecting one point from their matches against Morocco, Gabon and Comoros.

The 3-2 loss to the tournament’s newcomer in the last group game was one of the biggest shocks in the tournament’s history.

Rajevac was appointed in September for a second term as national team official. The Serbian coach also led Ghana from 2008 to 2010, and led the team to the 2010 World Cup quarter-finals.
