GCA 2022 kicks off

Manama, Nov. 15 (BNA): The first international conference and exhibition of the Gulf Chemistry Union (GCA 2022) kicked off here, under the patronage of the Minister of Oil and Environment and the Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak bin Dinah. today.


Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil and Environment, Faihan Muhammad Al-Faihani, opened the conference under the title “The Role of Chemistry in Sustainable Energy for Oil and Petrochemical Industries”.


GCA 2022 is organized by the Gulf Chemists Union (GCU) and the Saudi International Chemical Sciences Branch (SAICSC), in collaboration with the Bahraini Ministry of Oil and Environment.


Undersecretary Al-Faihani conveyed the greetings of the Minister of Oil and Environment to all participants, sponsors and speakers from all over the world, noting that the event promotes the petrochemical industry in the Middle East region, as it provides the best technologies in the global chemical industries. He added that holding specialized events will enable the Kingdom to continue preparing specialized competencies in the chemical industry.


He praised the efforts made by the Organizing Committee to organize the first edition of this global event, stressing the distinguished and innovative government endeavors to improve services and provide facilities to attract major events in various fields, which confirms the leadership of the Kingdom as one. One of the favorable platforms for hosting international and regional conferences.


He pointed out that GCA 2022 is an international forum for major manufacturers, academics, researchers, engineers, young scientists, students and business giants to ensure maximum interaction and provide the best data, knowledge and advanced technologies to improve the global chemical industries. He added that a number of key topics will be discussed during the event, including the fourth industrial revolution (IR 4.0), carbon management, clean and renewable energy, environment and waste management, laboratory operational excellence, industrial chemistry, and others.


He pointed out that the world is currently facing many economic, climatic and geopolitical challenges that affect various industrial, agricultural and commercial sectors, hence the need for human cadres specialized in the field of science and capable of innovating, distinguished and vital innovations. Flexible solutions to enhance productivity and improve market competitiveness in order to support long-term economic development and achieve prosperity and sustainable economic growth.


He added that the conference included a number of integrated programs and activities, such as seminars, short courses, specialized youth events, and special programs to empower Gulf women who are capable of excellence and creativity in the field of science, in addition to the “Kimathon.” A competition to present research for talented university students in all countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry, Al-Faihani, also inaugurated the exhibition, which was held on the sidelines of the conference.


More than 30 specialized companies from Bahrain and many countries participated in the exhibition, displaying the latest technologies and modern studies in this important industrial field.
